Sabrina Salerno, The Iconic Star of the 80's

Kate Middleton's wedding dress, shoes, cake put on display at Buckingham Palace: Photos

The Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress will go on display at Buckingham Palace from tomorrow.

The Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen designed gown will be available for public viewing in the ballroom from Saturday, July 23 until Monday, October 3.

Royal fans will also have the opportunity to view The Queen's Cartier tiara, which was loaned to the Duchess for the nuptials. Additional displays include the Duchess's wedding shoes, also by McQueen, and the diamond earrings commissioned by the Middleton family especially for the event.

Sarah Burton will also feature in a special documentary film to be screened at the exhibition in which she discusses designing the wedding dress, which was kept a closely guarded secret until the Duchess stepped out of her hotel before the ceremony.

Details on the size of the wedding dress will not be revealed, according to reports, although the shoe size has been confirmed as UK size five-and-a-half.

A spokesperson for the royal couple said earlier this year: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to give members of the public the opportunity to see, close-up, the skilled British craftsmanship that went into various elements of the wedding."

Visitors to the Summer Opening at Buckingham Palace will also have the chance to see the royal couple's wedding cake, made by Fiona Cairns, which will be displayed in the State Dining Room.

The top three tiers of the eight-tier cake are replicas of the original tiers, with guests having eaten one tier at the wedding and the Duke and Duchess choosing to save the other two tiers for themselves.

Other highlights of the royal exhibition include reproductions of the official wedding photographs, featuring the Duke and Duchess surrounded by their family members, which were taken by Hugo Burnand.

More than 600,000 people have already registered interest in attending the Summer Opening, according to the Daily Mail, which also reports that the highest attendance at the event to date was 420,000 people in 1994.
